      Hiya Dai :blue thumb:

I seem to remember you mentioned it before? A friend of yours? As yet, I haven't visited, but if it's the place I'm thinking of, it's literally 5 minutes from where I stay. I'll probably be going down in Easter (April?), so I'll make an effort this time to go and have a look. Truth is, in the past we haven't got on very well with Orchids, but since our house move we've had one that seems to be doing quite well, so might well be worth investing in one or two :dbgrtmb:

Freddy, you don`t have to buy anything. They actually like you to walk around and take pictures. You have to make your own tea/coffee though.lol

@Trunky and @Sandy Ground I reckon you both might be interested in this:

              Passchendaele: WW1 battle centenary commemorated

I've entered the ballot to see if I can get tickets to attend the Centenary Commemoration on 30th and 31st July. If picked we will stay longer to visit the actual battlefields.

My grandmother had eight brothers, two were killed at Passchendaele and a third survived the battle. I've got to research my grandfather's side, he was from an equally large family and we have photos of him on horseback in the Yorkshire Hussars along with my Great Uncles and their cousins in WW1. I've got to find out where he fought, could be he was there too.

@Freddy It is Burrowhayes Camping and Caravan site down at West Luccombe just outside Minehead.Ideal place to stay as there is plenty of walking around the site so you don't have to use the car if you don't want to:smile:

@Freddy it is a Private/Commercial site not a Certified Site (Camping and Caravanning Club?) or a CL(Certified Location)site (The Caravan Club). We are in The Caravan Club but this site is so good and fairly laid back that we often go here instead of the Club site at Minehead.

Do you belong to either Clubs?

Yes, I'm in the Caravan club. As it stands, I haven't toured for quite a few years, so I'm a member just for the cheaper insurance. In the past though I toured a lot, and my preferred option was the CL's. I just liked the more relaxed, informal and quiet atmosphere. In a few years when I retire, I plan to tour again, but at the moment, having my 'van' sited suits.

Is it correct that people that are not Caravan Club members cannot use their sites?

Hi @Sandy Ground,no anyone can use CC sites but you have to pay more fees than what members pay as we pay a membership each year to belong to THE Club. The Wardens will probably ask non members when they book in whether they would like to join THE club.

@Freddy we have never used CL sites as they often don't have hard standings and Mr Kandys cousin who uses them says that sometimes when the weather has been bad they have had to rely on someone towing them off of the pitch as they have been bogged down. They only have a Merc saloon not a 4x4 to tow their van (short for caravan)with so struggle a bit at times and they were telling us that the site fees are now starting to go up in price so they are now joining us posh caravanners as they like to call us:Wino::partytime: on proper CC sites. We also have the CC car insurance:smile:
