I was prescribed Statins but had bad reaction to two different ones. Very different reactions to each and my GP then told me to stop taking them as my cholesterol levels were OK anyway!

 

You gotta ask, why did he put you no them in the first place.

 

My hubby was prescribed statins when he had a triple bypass although they never told him what his cholesterol score was. He was put onto 80mg, the highest dose and told he would be on that dose for life. As he had strange side effects from them he decided to cut the tabs in half thereby taking roughly 40mgs. After the first annual blood test he was told that the dosage could be reduced to 40mgs as his results were OK. So he now cuts those in half and takes 20mgs and only every other day, taking plant sterols on the alternate days instead. His results continue to be OK and the quack is none the wiser …. You’ve gotta be one step ahead all the time …..

 

I suspect it was for the same reason others have mentioned - targets.
