Oh Zigs! :( There is such a news black out on many of the links to that story that anything we may 'assume' is purely conjecture! (Mr Mum is barely aware of half of what I do in life so I can relate; on the other hand, and by the same token, I learned tonight that Mr Mum has had himself and "the family" threatened with 'unmentionables', which puts me on red alert until otherwise informed). The whole point being: there but for the grace of God, go I!

She may have known nothing at all about her husbands intentions; and, if that was the case, is it so unbelievable that the males of the community wanted to rally (and protect?) her? Come on! Nothing is ever as black and white as the news portrays!

Try this scenario then: one day, Willow is arrested because her beloved had a failed suicide attempt. Do you a) put your cynical head on; b) innocent until proven guilty; c) rally the troops in support of her (and in fear she may not get a fair trial because ... her name is "Willow"/she is "female"/she is from a different "culture"?)

All I'm saying (ultimately) is: there are two sides to every story!!! We are so very quick to judge and so very slow in taking a step backward and viewing things from a different stance ;)

This thread is interesting , but we must be really carefull ,to what we say
(I wish this was a free country for us as well :))
we love gardening and we should not get tichy to each other because of them ...

the peoples in that videos are not part of our society at all...
there are not doctors , no corner shop , no teachers , no mechanics ...
those peoples just hate our society , they pray 3/5 times a day do you really
think that they have time for work?

This Country give them a house , benifet ,more kids more benefit ,police protection ,
soldier have died in war to give them the human rights they have ,
they can be free al day , why should they ever work !!!!!
If you would be busy at work , you wouldn`t have time to protest around the town
    would you?

I`m a foreigner , i love England .......if I live in England is because
England gave me more then my country have , I do work hard and
respect English law and love the culture of it .......If I do , why can`t they do it?

Indeed. And because of centuries of struggle and change, we now have a country that is popular enough that lots of people want to be here. Including, it seems, the people who preach hatred against us. If they hate the UK so much, well, one of the freedoms we enjoy here is the freedom to leave if we wish to do so.

It is ironic that they are protesting about our way of life, a way of life that grants them, among other things, the right to protest. So they are protesting about us allowing them to protest.

Another right that we enjoy here in the UK is the right to leave if we want to. If they hate the UK so much, why don't they simply exercise that right I wonder.

My thoughts too, not getting dragged into the other arguments about free speech & civil rights.

Can't see mine or my Daughter's rights being upheld in a Muslim country, that's why I don't live in one, or at least thought I didn't live in one until recently.

Sorry you are wrong .......there are human right , that costing tax payers lots of money , that even if you manage to kick anyone out , that they can appeal and stay in Uk :)...obviously
all of that free of charge , as they can cost up to £4000 a day ; )

and then why would you leave a Country that protect you while you are going around
spreding word of hate for same country who give you everything you need,
and why leave this country for?????
a house in the desert ??? with no water , no money and no free food ????

unfortunatly if we talk bad about that religion we are racist .....
I do sound like a racist , but I`m not , got lots of good muslim friends and I live in
a muslim area , there are lots of good muslim who have integrated in our society
but those peoples in that videos are not part of our society ,

I would like to ask them why so much hate for our society ,
if them law is so much better , why they are alway in war with someone

well at least I know that when I will die will go straight to hell
            a Hell without them , ;) ...not a bad place really ; )

those peoples in the video should be ashemed to make look all the muslim look
like them and make look all foreigner look like something bad for this country .

I try not to get involved in these discussions as it isn't the reason I'm a member of GC but I think the discussion is moving away from what is actually being depicted by the video.

What is being depicted is intolerance. There is no excuse for such intolerance of other peoples' way of life.

In this particular video it's by a group of people that call themselves Muslims - although the Muslims I have spoken to about it say that isn't a proper Muslim point of view. There is no difference, in intolerance, between them and the sort we see from some members of the BNP and other similar groups.

Whatever was the incident that set this demonstration off, there is no excuse for such a degree of intolerance. They have a right to march and protest the incident that set it off but have no right to verbally abuse and vilify any other group of people. The incident is completely hidden by the hatred emanating from this group of bigots. Sadly, they have used the incident to demonstrate their bigotry and hatred and lost the whole purpose of the protest.

This is nothing to do with religion - although that's its effect. It's simply a horrible abuse of decency by a group of bigots.

Being a part of a minority and having suffered, misguided, abuse in the past (and still occasionally suffer it, unwittingly, nowadays) I'm aware that most people of all religious, ethnic and racial groups are extremely tolerant. A small part of each and every group, are not.

I'm sorry if anyone would like to enter into a discussion with me on the points I have raised but I don't do this on GC. Apologies! :love30:

Sorry but I'm not. You quoted me pointing out that they are free to leave if they don't like it here. I'm am quite sure that I'm correct on that point.

I spent 10 years living in a neighbourhood were official statistics showed that 70% of the residents were not UK nationals, and Islam was the predominant religion. There was never any bother that I saw. Everyone was just ordinary. My neighbours had jobs, families, names and personalities. Not surprising really when we consider that they are just people.

It upsets me that some minorities get together to give the wider section of society a bad name. there is an element of ignorance all round. If everybody learned even the basics of each other's belief system (goes both ways) then maybe there'd be less suspicion, but we can't fault anyone for not bothering, its human nature to be wary of anyone who is perceived to be different.

This is exactly the reason why I hate that our government does nothing to single out the hate mongers (regardless of which group they claim to represent) and make examples of them. People don't want hate preachers on our streets, and when the government does nothing about it, some people look to others that might. This is the most worrying thing. Imagine if we ended up isolating ourselves from the rest of the world, and worse, what if we started kicking innocent people out just because they had the wrong skin tone or wore the wrong clothes. It was figured out centuries ago when laws were first invented that you can't have a working society without setting and enforcing rules. Now it seems the rules are ignored by and for some, and not others.
