The odd shower here....heavier when I ventured eastwards this morning. Since I decided to stop watering the grass we have had heavy overnight dews and some showers :)
More breezy, a few degrees lower although still relatively humid. Nice. :) Grasses swaying in the breeze too enjoying it.......if you want your gardens to look alive folks put in a couple of tall grasses for movement and sound:)

Heavy rain this morning.....must have been non stop last night. Surely, the reservoirs have been topped up quite nicely and the gardens would have swallowed up plenty of it. :)
Tall perennials, that I can see from various windows......I aint going out there:sad:.......are still standing but no doubt there will be some fallers when I do have a look.:noidea:
We are promised brighter conditions this afternoon :)

Well, a walk around the garden shows no damage......tall agastaches, grasses, dahlias etc. all still standing. :) Even stipa gigantea at over 9' is intact :)

Rain has stopped, sun is shining now and then and everything looks clean and fresh.

The tourists though filled the shops disappointed with the rain.....blimey! Only one day of it???....and the forecast is good.:noidea:

My Agastache Black Adder are completely flattened by the gale force winds, particularly saddening as I admire the amount of bees present on them from the window when I can’t physically get out there. Asters too. BBC forecast a ‘light breeze’ :noidea:

Sorry about that Mark....all mine are intact but they are grown on dry soils. Can you sort out the stems not broken and cut them back halfway? They are likely to flower later....still time for that:). And you can take plenty of cuttings!! :noidea:
It was very windy and very wet for a prolonged time here and, despite being in a walled garden still very stormy, plants generally have coped.

Well yesterday was in huge contrast to today a whole months rain in an hour a staggering 90mm..roads closed everywhere, flash flooding and all the while we were at the GC and Supermarkets...on the ground and if you were to look at our drive home call it sheer luck but all around us was flood after flood and the only road left to get home that was passable we actually took oblivious to what was going on around us...yes the wipers were on full tilt but we had no idea what was happening...Happily the garden suffered not an iota the bottom end pathway flooded and soaked away after a few hours much to the liking of the Hydrangea's I'm sure...The only problem I have now is the neighbour complaining about us feeding the birds as they are (allegedly) dropping poo on their car....now my cars are not parked too far away from their's as the crow flies and they are fine....moaning people will always find something to moan about I reckon....

Whenever we get prolonged dry weather we hear tales of water shortages; last winter we were deluged with rain. Warnings of a poor summer when the Beast from the
East visited us and we had a cold wet spring. Reservoirs are lower now and wet areas dried up so dire warnings again:). But, isnt this to be expected? :noidea:
It has been a real summer this year...ok, a bit too hot for many....and most of us have enjoyed it. In a few weeks the summer will be just a memory and the rains will have restored reservoirs, rivers and ponds.
The heavy rain over the weekend has already benefitted us, our gardens, our farmlands but the powers that be will insist it has made no difference.
I think we should not allow the spoilsports to spread their doom and gloom.....we know, really, don't we that normal service is always resumed eventually:)
