LoL ... You don't need to have the Campsis as a climber ..I'm not sure if you are thinking about a height restriction when you say you don't know where to put it .... I have seen them grown as a tree ... planted with a good support then simply cut off all lower branches ... you can then prune to your preferred size..they look good! M-L

Morning, Mona Lisa! More often than not Campsis are grown as trees here as well. My problem is lack of space ... well, there's still a lot left but it's rock, so I have to leave that area lacking in greenery and the only green thing there at the moment is our green Clio!

Regarding fans, we have ceiling fans in the kichen, living room, our bedroom and the outdoor living room, plus a tower fan in the living room, a small table top fan in the kitchen by the cooker and a small table top fan by t'other half's computer in the second bedroom. Plus there's a portable air conditioner is our room. I don't find any of them noisy, not that we have them all going at the same time but the ceiling fans run almost non stop. We also keep the shutters closed till the sun moves off that part of the house - inside it may be dark but it's cool!

Still sweltering here - had some friends round for lunch - it was so lovely, sitting under the eucyliptus (sp!)tree - like being on hol in France or Spain it was so warm! Everything started to melt and we had to put the bottle of red stuff indoors cos it was getting over heated  I love it as long as I havent got anything much to do - just about managed to cut back a rampant buddlea a bit and that was my lot! Not too bad up here, thunderstorming around lunchtime and torrential rain for about half an hour, that'll do me (and my garden!) for a while.

What am I doing wrong if my rose bushes end up with blooms so huuuuugely massive that they can't support them? *sniff*

What Gods call "gallentry" and mortals "adultery" is far more common - when the weather is sultery!

Lady of Leisure - I so agree about ceiling fans. Came back from Florida some years back and put them in all the main rooms. Its great in winter and summer. Marvellous now - (sitting with cool air wafting past).

Even persuaded my elderly mother to get them. As she's over 80, in this weather they really pay off.

The weather is great here in the north east, we had showers earlier this evening but at least no winds and lovely and warm.

Yes, Fran. Because you can also do reverse on them what a blessing it is. I'll soon now go and get under ours in the bed, at 22,7oC at nearon 11pm still requires the fans ... but not enough to put the air conditioning on ... ???

It's so hot here, I just went and opened the front door to get some air in the place!! Happily it's a nice, quiet and private close I live in so it's okay to do that. Mind you, I just bake some cheese straws for tomorrow so that didn't help!! Temp here is 28+

    Sleep well, everyone!!
