Just got an email saying they can't come to fix mine till October! They will however deliver a new one for £59, might take them up on that and keep it as a spare or sell on ebay - anyone need a new tumble dryer?
Good afternoon after numerous emails and telephone calls, and correspondence and the legality of how they were treating yours truly as a customer, the engineer is coming to change the defective parts on the 24th of this month, they also offered Woo another machine but on principal I declined the offer
After all this time Hotpoint have finally told owners to stop using them! Owners told not to use dangerous tumble dryers after all - BBC News It's just over a year since I started this thread and still not all the dryers have been repaired, it's a disgrace.
Shouldn't they then offer to buy them back for the original purchase price? I'm pretty sure that the manufacturer saying 'don't use that thing we sold you' is pretty much equivalent to them saying 'this product is not fit for its intended purpose, nor is it of serviceable quality', which basically amounts to saying the terms of the sale of goods act have been breached and as such you're entitled to a full refund.
They've been saying for some time that you shouldn't use them unless you can keep a watch on them. You buy convenience machines os that you don't have to watch them!!! The consumer association are taking Peterborough Trading Standards (the area where the manufacturers are based) to court for not forcing, or prosecuting them. Not sure how that will go.
There's a petition now, up to 42,000 have signed so far: Petition: Call on the Government to urge Whirlpool UK to recall all faulty tumble dryers Call on the Government to urge Whirlpool UK to recall all faulty tumble dryers Following hundreds of fires caused by Whirlpool tumble dryers, we are concerned that Whirlpool have not recalled the approximately 5 million faulty dryers and have not changed their safety advice to customers, as recommended by the London Fire Brigade, who advise consumers to stop using the dryers. Just thought I'd bump this. Last had a tumble drier when our daughter was very young and we were both in FTE. Our neighbours can't be bothered using a washing line, blasting out 'Tumble Fresh' odours from their drier on warm, sunny days.
My washing line has yet to spontaneously combust. But then it wasn't made by Hotpoint, Creda or Whirlpool.
I've just replaced our washing line (£4.99p) after 15 years of work, the old one is going to go up in smoke next time i have a fire
I bought a new one from a supermarket, marked down to just £2 I'm not using it for the laundry though
We do have a tumble dryer that we use when there is inclement weather. Even in good weather we can't hang the washing out as our hundreds of thankfull birds keep giving us presents . We now have extendable washing lines under the covered pergola but they are only successful if the air isn't too damp.
