    I've eaten both carp, pike and zander when in Europe, for some reason we've got out of the habit of eating coarse fish since the middle ages when everybody who could afford it ate fish on Fridays and many saints days and such like. Beaver was classed as fish as it spent so much time in the water and so were barnacle geese as barnacles were believed to develop into barnacle geese.

      @Lokstok83
      My greenhouse gets to a similar sort of temperature.
      How big a container are you growing them in? Cucumbers like higher humidities than tomatoes and less light. I'm just wondering if with the large leaf area your cucumber is struggling to get sufficient water for the leaf to transpire properly so the leaf wilts reducing the exposed area of the leaf and thus the need for water.
      You could try shading the cucumbers either with some shade material on the inside of the greenhouse or there was a paint on material for the outside (Coolglass) it is easily scrubbed off in autumn or will weather off more slowly. Also if you are at home in the day you could wet the floor of the greenhouse to raise the humidity, need to do it at least a couple of times.

        that's what used to happen to mine, they'll wilt in the afternoon with the sun, might need some shade in the afternoon.

          Hi thank you for your information, I'm using growbags X2 per bag, would you advise sticking to pots as I have in the past?

          It's funny you both say that, I did remove some screening that I used to shade the greenhouse, I removed it due to the low UV levels

                  I used to do that but found that there was just not enough space for the roots. I now use the cheap and cheerful buckets from B&Q were a £1.00 each when I bought the first 10 this was after a thread on here mentioned them. I fill with a mix of garden soil and cheapo peatfree compost and add some slow release fertiliser.

                      There is a syndicate water near Pitlochry that has both Tench and Carp, I was offered a ticket, but it's a bit too far from me, they might just be the most northerly cyprinids in Britain. The local Osprey was filmed landing on it's nest with a large Tench earlier this year!

                        Oh nice, do you know if they allow night fishing there?

                        Luckily Ospreys don't hunt in the dark, but no night fishing and it's a closed syndicate now.
