I remember walking home from school in the dark, but I think we finished later than they do these days. In my memory finishing time was ten past 4 in primary (1970s) and twenty past in secondary (early-mid 80s). Round here they all seem to be out by 3pm or earlier.

It really doesn't bother me that much. It used to when I was working. I'd commute to London, and not see home in the light from Sunday afternoon until Saturday morning. A nuisance when you want to be in the garden.

I get up when I wish, and sleep when I wish. TV can be on catch up, so I don't miss programmes.

It's having the rest of the country on different times that frustrates me.

I prefer light mornings so it suits me. I just don’t like turning all the clocks back, even though some of them change automatically. I like all clocks to be synchronised, which can be stressful .

I usually forget one. Don't know which one because I've forgotten.

Either don't sleep in the cat basket or shut it out of your space.

Don't change them then they'll be right again in 6 months.

I can remember walking to school and university in the 1970's and 1980's. Children walking to school disappeared between 1990 and 2000.

Ha ha. Not a cat owner then? Shut it out of my space? The door frame would be reduced to matchsticks in five minutes.

I never change the one in the car. It is ridiculously complicated, so much so that by the time you have done it, time has moved on and it is then slow. I just leave it alone and factor in the subtraction when parked somewhere with limits.

You just need to train it better! My cat was always shut away each night and let out in the morning. He had the run of three rooms over night, but not upstairs to the bedrooms.

Cats can be trained, but it's more a battle of wills than training a dog.

My sister's cat used to stroll into her bedroom and turn on the light. No lie-ins allowed.

Of course Portugal is the only European country on GMT.
I remember Portugal was for staying on Summertime, but it never happened ...

"In September 2018, the European Commission proposed to end seasonal clock changes as of 2019.[173] Member states would have the option of observing either daylight saving time all year round or standard time all year round. In March 2019, the European Parliament approved the commission's proposal, while deferring implementation from 2019 until 2021.[174] In response to this proposition, the European Sleep Research Society stated "installing permanent Central European Time (CET, standard time or 'wintertime') is the best option for public health."[175] As of October 2020, the decision has not been confirmed by the Council of the European Union.[176] The council has asked the commission to produce a detailed assessment of its effects, but the Commission considers that the onus is on the Member States to find a common position in Council.[177] As a result, progress on the issue is effectively blocked.[178]"
