You are probably correct altho I was told “ new wood “ shavings which is what bedding for horses is(mostly pine or Spruce) contains sap which will burn. Being very familiar with fresh or otherwise manure, I would never use it right up to the base of plants unless they were brown stemmed shrubs. There are so many flaming myths about horse manure 1 being it smells. Ok straight out of the rear end from eating rich spring grass it is a big stinky but even that after a few days conks out. The real mega mazoma pong is chicken manure, holy hell now that is a nostril clearer if ever I smelt anything.Boots should bottle it for blocked up noses:roflol:

Correct, if there is nothing growing inside the bag, or its not left outside to get soaked, then the fertiliser will still be in the compost.

When somebody buys a full pallet and they are intending to store some for the following seasons, just keep it in a dry shaded area, ideally a shed or your garage. What I would suggest is you use the top layer and the bottom layer of compost first as they are the ones that are more likely to have taken up some moisture and put the remainder under cover.

If the compost is 100% peat which Clover MPC tends to be, then it will not decay, even if there is some wood fibre incorporated into the mix it takes considerable time for the wood fibre to decay, and like myself we added extra nitrogen 250grams per cubic metre to offset any nitrogen deficiency. Its only when the wood fibre is blend with the likes of manure that the mix will decay more rapidly, but only if moisture gets into the bag.
