In our town, each area is seperated by a 100yd wide Original woodland strip, with a tarmac path down the middle
There is a guy a couple of streets down from us, on the end house alongside the woodland,
He moves his fence 1mt each year into the wood, it was obvious the first move as suddenly there is this brand new fence sticking out a metre
Now it is four metres in and has a large pigeon loft built on it ?

The latest he has ringed three trees that now overhang "his" property
two sycamores and a small oak

I have no idea how he gets away with it
Next the council will come and cut down the poorly trees

Why don't you round up the neighbours, and get them all fired up, then see if you can get permission to make a communal garden there?

It sounds ambitious, but it can be done. You'd need to get the council on board, and there might be loads of red tape, but its worth a shot.
