I don't mind if someone spells something wrong. I probably wouldn't notice because my spelling is hopeless too.
When a word is underlined in red because I've misspelt it, it's not much good te me because I don't know the correct spelling anyway, and no matter how many variations I try it is still underlined in red ... so then I give up :noidea:

One thing that does tend to annoy me somewhat though, is when people put an apostraphy in a word that's plural e.g. "I grew lot's of vegetable's last year" ... it does tend to make me cringe a bit :frown: but I never tell them ...
I see that 'apostraphy' underlined but how DO you spell it ?? :heehee: I suppose I could look in a dictionary (if I could find one !)

Well i'm quilty at bad spelling and gammer  but not quilty at trying hard to do it proplery, when you'm tone deaf like me words sound different to how they look and when you try spellcherker and you don't know how the first letters are, it gets hard how to spell a word, some times i won't post because i can't spell a word right and then it may upset some people

So all i can say is sorry

i will now go a sit in the corner with my pointed hat ontake my blue pills and get some one to do the buckles up on my jacket

I mean no offence if i have spelt words wrong in this post, again i'm truely sorry

          apostrofy .......right click .... apostrophe
If you put your cursor of the red lined word and right click, the suggested spelling comes up. Just click on the spelling and it replaces the word.:blue thumb:

No need to apologise @Jiffy :)

              Thanks @HarryS

I am Welsh and that's a phonetic language. You just pronounce all the letters you see (easier said than done) and you'd think the spelling would be easy, but I still manage to get it wrong ! so I'm even worse in English

I've just realised that the spell checker on this machine isn't working, it's got a tick in the box for it to work, but how i have been checking words is by going to the top search bar and trying to get the words to come up if i start (hopefully) with the right letters, you prat Jiffy, now i'll have to try and find out why spell checker isn't working :doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:

In all the years I've been a member of GC, I don't think I've ever seen anyone correct another member's spelling. :-) Proving shiney's point about it being a friendly forum..... ;-)

The spell checker I get has an option of "add to dictionary".

Heavens! I always enjoy reading your posts. They make sense and are usually filled with information I did not know :dbgrtmb: keep posting!!!

My problem is not knowing how to pronounce things. Until I heard someone say it, I thought Heuchera was pronounced "Who Sure Ah" :heehee:

Who cares how people spell things or use punctuation. As mentioned some people just cant manage to do it all correctly. I know I don't all the time. Id rather people contributed and joined in. I find it very sad that somebody would not post for fear of upsetting somebody due to spelling issues.
If people weren't interested in anything I had to say just because I couldn't spell properly then I'd consider them to be somebody who wasn't important enough to me to bother with anyway.
This is after all a Gardening Forum..........not an English Language course.

I'm sure there are plenty of gardeners that may be a bit wayward with their spelling, but can grow the most wonderful plants.
I believe Einstein was dyslexic but it didn't hamper his arithmetic (not sure if he gardened much..) although he was a vegetarian apparantly.
