I think you have a lovely garden Hsuh. I would love to visit it again on here or in real life also Armandii as he also have a tremendous cottage garden. I love cottage gardens.

With the steady warm weather, the garden is definitely very lively. In the front garden, azalea, deutzia and peony are in full flower; weigela is opening up and skimmia, ruscus & pernetya provide red & green berries :spinning: .

The wisteria arch gateway that links the front garden to the upper garden is most colourful and fragrant at the moment :blue thumb: .

It always surprise me when people complain that their wisteria refuses to flower no matter how much care and attention it gets (a regular topic on Gardeners' Question Time on R4). Our wisteria is growing right next to the house with paved paths around it. I don't know where it gets the needed water and energy from but it flowers every year and Mr H has to cut it back hard to keep it to a manageable size. Maybe it is a question of "treat it mean, keep it keen"???

        Upper / Side Garden
Our upper garden is mostly used as our edible garden, strawberries are flowering and some fruits are starting to form.

The red current is growing like mad (I failed completely to prune it to shape from the very start, and I'm not sure how hard I can go about pruning it now? :help: Any advice will be most welcome. Strangely, this year black currants are not growing as strongly as they should be.
The pear trees are doing fine with fruits setting. I'll keep a watch out for scab since we had the problem last year
One apple tree was killed last year by honey fungi :cry3: . The remaining one fought off the attack about 5 years ago, maybe it has developed anti-bodies so that I don't need to worry anymore. But it does suffer from blossom wilt. I just hope it won't get weakened too much by the wilt :love30: .

So far this year my 1st batch of leafy veggie hasn't grown too well - they all bolted, but the others: carrots, beetroots, cauli, melon turnips... look quite healthy.

This is probably going to be the last year we grow vegetables here since we will have an allotment plot from the local council soon which, together with our Landshare plot, means we will have space to grow enough to feed ourselves and a few neighbours :stirpot: . I'm going to use the space to grow ornamental flowers and shrubs, maybe dotted with some lettuce and rhubarb chard.

Right now, this corner provides most colour for the upper garden.

          Lower / Back Garden
Plants are shooting up here, apart from dahlias whose young shoots got eaten by slugs & snails :nonofinger:, I'll have to apply some slug pellets to help them restart.

Mr H has put in some supporting stakes for delphiniums which in the previous years grew to 7 feet tall. Will they be able to manage that height this year? :what:

Let's hope the weather is going to continue to be kind to us all in the coming months.

Thank you for showing me round your lovely garden again today. It's the type of garden that French and Americans drool over and depicts the very best of an English Country garden style.
It's so good to be able to erase the memories of those wretched dark, wet Winter months at last isn't it.
