When I'm working in the garden I always pee on the compost heap. It helps the compost and is so much easier (as clueless said).

When we first moved here 40 years ago most of the neighbours, when their cesspits were full, were still pumping the top part into the field at the back.

Our one had a 3ft high hand pump fixed to the top of the tank and it only needed to have a hose attached. When the farmer used to do the muck spreading (the pig farm down the road was his supplier) all the neighbours were out with their pumps as well.

There's a sewer pipe going out to sea here at Redcar. Its treated nowadays but when I was little it was just pure raw filth. It only goes about a mile out too.

All the local fishermen would race each other each day to get their boats to the end of the pipe, because they all knew that's where all the fish were.

I remember as a kid going in the sea near a sewage outfall at Branksome Chine near Bournemouth. It wasn't so much swimming as going through the motions! Boom Boom!:heehee:

The outbreak of diseases years ago from human waste had a lot to do with the lack of knowledge of "washing your hands" , and "safe food handing". But today, I do belive we all know the first line of defense is "washing your hands".
Anyway, GUYS, it is easier to fertilze your compose than us women.

I've seen women peeing into a gents' urinal in a nightclub so if you can do it in a nightclub you can do it on the compost heap. :)

Yes BUT those were WOMEN NOT LADIES

However Lady gardeners are exempt from the above rule

Though it would be wise to do it discretly and not on the front lawn at 16:00 when the kids are coming home from school :heehee:

Large funnel with a tube attached to it, leading to a watering can? I was thinking of giving this a go, but heard somewhere that male urine was more productive than females.

Just a potty would do? or a She-Wee (I think it is called)

Nothing to do with "productive" that I know of, just as much Nitrogen I would have thought?, but I have read that some [i.e. female] hormone may have an impact. But I've read just as much that says that that issue is small balls!

My local council (Salford) now recycle all food waste (including meat, etc) in the same bin as the garden waste. If they can break down meat in that way, could they do human waste as well or would the risk of disease still be there? It ends up being used on farms so maybe not.

My cats have B&Q compost in their litter tray. They love having a good old dig in it, it's much cheaper than cat litter, lighter, absorbs smells better, easier to clean the litter tray and once they've finished with it, I remove any bits of poo and then mix it back in with the compost to be dug into the borders.

We have a sewerage farm in ROSYTH, They sell dry human waste (pelleted like chiken manure) I do not know how it has been treated, though it is on sale to the public, Not well advertised though as it is cheap as chips. Sales are sort of I got this here, go visit and get some

Old Aunt used it on flower beds for a few years
