Well my knobs arrived and they are lovely, they are fitted on with the usual threaded screws but I am just a bit concerned that the knob doesn't have enough thread inside it, the screw actually goes into the knob 5mm, is this sufficient? anyway I was thinking that when I fit them I would use Loctite Threadlocker just to be sure that they don't work loose, any thoughts on this would be extremely welcome as I am becoming 'knob obsessed'
5mm should be fine unless they are being subjected to a particularly heavy door/drawer. No harm in using threadlocker - won't add any more strength but will minimise the risk of a knob working loose
Val , 5mm thread depth should be OK . What is the maximum depth of thread in the new draw handles ? When you put the screw through from the back of the drawer is 5mm still showing ? If you do want longer screws , you can buy these break off screws possibly to get a longer length. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50-x-M4-S...482?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3f35822dba
Val you need the right thread locker Loctite BLUE Otherwise you will never get them off again Other brands are available, Blue stays supple, Red sets solid and needs heat to remove it Jack McH
RED it is then, I don't want to take them off again. Longer screws won't help there is plenty sticking out the front I have to push the excess through to the back and I have 2 locking nuts to put onto the end but there is only room inside the knob for 5mm of the screw.
