Hello @ARMANDII my good friend most mornings I smile back at my Cheshire cat on the very rare occasion I have been known to utter a few unfavourable comments

 

Rosemary has been with us for many years. She is made of marble resin. Looks marble.



Things have grown up round her.


She's at least 5ft tall and cost us about £100, 10-12 years ago. We got her from that peculiar nursery near us (you've been there) but I've checked their website and they don't seem to have any large things on it. I can't pop down there as they're closed for renovations until November.

 

Yes, I used to go around the garden and admire her on the Open Days, Shiney.

Yes, I remember; it's certainly different from most Nurseries but I quite liked the statues and other things they had there. I think I'm now beginning to veer away from formal statues, beautiful as they are, due to the informal style of my garden..........which is making it difficult for myself, and why I need suggestions and ideas from everyone to get me on the right track.

 

Those deer look good but the smaller one is only just over a foot high . I think they would get lost amongst the plants.

 

I like the idea of animals in the garden, Upsdaisy. The Walk Around border has 4 Rose shrubs scattered around it but it is mostly a mix of Peonies, Lavenders, Rudbeckia, Echinacea, Echinops, Knautia, Sidalcea, Perennial Poppies, Lupins, Foxtail Lilies, and other herbaceous perennials extending from the centre.

I'm not sure about this one, as he looks too much like me, but more intelligent.


but anything too low would be hidden very soon without a plinth because of the very close planting and height of the plants. I go out into the garden in the evenings and try to imagine what could be there in the Walk Around Border that would catch the eye but not look too
common place or formal.
Deer's might be a good idea, to be honest, but it seems most in my proposed budget are around, at best, the 3' high range and anything above that jumps into the thousands of pounds mark. So because of the height problem I would have to resort to a plinth.
This is nice, stands at 4' 8" high but, even in a sale, costs £722


I have been to the local recycle/antique sites but they are selling comparable statues at nearly twice the price!
