A glorious day here, one of those days that make you glad to be alive! The sky is clear, the sun is shining and there's a nice breeze ... calm before the storm ?

Net-Weather home page I visit this site to get updates on all things Weather. The forum has lots of sub-forums with clever people who know lots of technical things about the weather (I'm not one of them lol!! :D I only visit to read up)

Hi folks! We had a good downpour this morning which was desperately need, but currently the sun is out and it's 22C so I've got the doors and windows open. We were supposed to have four days of rain commencing with thunderstorms, which didn't occur and now it looks like the rain is diminishing as well!

Very warm and sunny up here all day (23C in the shade) High humidity too. I think we'll escape the worst of the winds on the East but it looks as if it could be a bumpy night. Glad I got a box of apples off the tree on Monday :D

Its reached 26C in the shade here today and a bit breezy, the most notable thing about the last two days has been the intensity of the sunlight. The sky has been the darkest blue that I can remember, at this time of the year, and not a single cloud.
Normal warm September days tend to be hazy.

Has the hurricane gone the other way or are we still expecting some rough weather in the west?

I think its begining to lose intensity. It wasn't a real hurricane anyway, by the time it reached here it was just a depresssion.

Yes, I believe Gordon has gone "fora" as we say ... away. We have sunshine and "perhaps" showers on the way! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Celia - not to worry about your daughter going to Florida and hurricans. The only hurricans showing on the National Hurrican Centre, is Helene.

A gardening frined lives right on the Gulf Coast in Florida - the bay is at the bottom of the garden - and they have great systems to spot and monitor hurricans - giving early warnings to potential affected areas. My friend's home was hit by both Ivan, George and the edge of Katrina - but has now been repaired. Every time she had moved inland in good time.

We've had some heavy rain today, not seen anything like it for quite a while.
Apparently the cold front became more active as it came through and a lot of rain moved north from France.

We've had not a drop of the wet stuff for weeks. None since I laid my turf -typical! Hurricane Gordon was a damp squib-or should I say dry squib! Although Looe and Penzance were invaded by the sea yesterday, all we had was a few gusts of wind and a lovely day today. For once, Cornwall didn't get the worst of the weather!!
