Good result Kandy - glad to see it is going to a good home and not the scrapheap.

Mr Kandy has just been telling me that evidently this Malcolm actually restores these old cars and it usually takes him around two years or so to complete them.He was saying to Mr Kandy that parts for these cars are very difficult to get hold of and said that if Mr Kandy finds any other bits to the car then to let him know.Evidently he was saying that eBay is full of these cars/bits but he doesn't like dealing with eBay preferring to deal privately instead which was good for us:biggrin:

He is also interested in the side valve engines x3 that are also needing to be got rid of.:yay:

Now that the pop has gone Mr Kandy and his sister have to find homes for two Ford Escorts,1Ford Fiesta and at least two Minis that are in a state of neglect:sad: At least the cars have been sworned so there are no problems with the DVLA and Mr Kandys sister has all the log books, keys etc.

I am going to surf the net later to see if there are any Escort forums about to see if anyone wants any of these cars for rebuilding or parts.I think the batteries will need charging up though as they haven't been run since they failed their tests:sad:

Thanks for your healing vibes @"M" My young neighbour next door stopped me on our drive one day last week and she was telling me she had a heavy cold but as we were standing outside at the time thought I wouldn't get the germ...WRONG:sad:

Anyway at least getting the cold out the way I should be OK for when I eventually get my toe operated on but I am usually left with a cough after a cold which can go on for weeks and I don't want to be coughing my head off as the surgeon has the hammer and saw in his hands:sick0026::snorky: Haven't heard anything yet but the surgeon did say there was a two month waiting time:sad:

Almost certainly not - but I have a good few brownie points in the bank.....

Sadly, I am not in a position to take any project car on in terms of time, let alone the fact that I have no garage and no money; so, I think that my brownie points will stay banked for now.

@fat controller when Mr Kandy goes to get the odometer readings for the Escorts and Fiesta I will get him to take some photos of the cars and you will see what the cars look like.I know one of them is an old "J" reg but not too sure what the others are. After the cars failed their MOT's my FIL stored them in the garage because he wasn't going to spend money on them to get them through the MOT again. He would rather go out and spend £'s on another old car:scratch:

If anyone knows of any sites on the net where these cars could be got rid of for spares etc it would be a help as I haven't got the energy at the moment with this cold to spend hours trawling the Internet and I know that Mr Kandy wouldn't have any idea either as he isn't a Petrol Head:snorky:

J reg will be a MK1 - the best one to have in my book. The only site I can think of to place classifieds is carandclassic.co.uk; it might also be worth joining up to the Practical Classics forum and see if they have a classifieds section.

Be nice to see the photos before you get rid.

                          Good luck :)

You do realise that brownie points expire for no reason don't you? Best call them in while you have them. You might without notice or reason that all your brownie points have simply vanished.

                              You sure?

I remember the xr3i being about around H reg time, and that was based on a mk3. My first escort was M reg and that was halfway between mk4 and mk5 (it was a limited edition Sapphire, ie tool the factory up for mk5, but use up any mk4 bits that are still lying around). I'm sure mk1 goes right back to the start of the alphabet, and possibly even the back end of the alphabet from last time round.

Shame you didn't still have that YBD 997 registration to sell on separately, as that could have achieved a high bid from a Porsche 997 owner, possibly well over £2,000 based on a quick online check.
