Plants THOUGHT to be native? That doesn`t make them native, Pete. Hydrogen brought it upon his self.

I dont think its up to him to define what native plants are, all respect to H, but I'm sure there are a few very learned botanists out that that have already decided that point.

And with maybe a few exceptions, agreed among them.

Let me say up front to Hydrogen and yourself, Pete, that I apologise if my request for a definition of Native Plants from Hydrogen was interpreted as being offensive, too persistent. In all honesty, I was merely trying to convert Hydrogen's Native Plants into something definite that I could understand and picture. After, if someone says to you that they like cars you're bound to ask what kind of car??? But I really am sorry if I gave the wrong impression as to my motive or means in trying to pin down Hydrogen's definition of Native Plants.

Can we all go back and look at page one, an ID of evening primrose, definitely not native to Britain.
All H said was he didn't want to collect seed as it was non native.

All of you know the last thing I ever do is grow native plants, but I would not condemn anyone who did, or make an issue of what is considered native, as I said earlier what plants are "native" has been already decided by people that probably know much more than any of us.

I take your point, Pete, but I don't read any condemnation of any one wanting to grow Native plants either by seed or other in any of the posts, just an enquiry as to what was a Native plant in Hydrogen's eyes. And really that was the nub of the matter, because despite what you say about people who know more than us deciding what a Native plant is, [and I agree with you on that!], people are bound to have their own thoughts, vague or definite, as to what they are.

Anyway, Hydrogen has explained what he believes a Native Plant is and my curious question is now answered. For me that is end of subject.:D
