Would you have enough broken paving slabs to make an area of crazy paving?

I'm thinking crush all the rock/rubble that is simply not useable into a hardcore, dig out the desired area and lay the hardcore, then build a brick built barbie (not near the fence or shed for obvious reasons), before topping off the hardcore with a crazy paving made from the broken paving slabs (assuming you have enough)? You could then use the granite and sandstone to create something of a rockery (over by the fence maybe)

You keep mentioning these big lumps of sandstone. I think we need a pic so we can see what you're on about!!

Sounds like you need Folly Man.:heehee:

I was all set to slate the B&Q pergola link, but it looks to be very good for the money, and I would imagine that you would struggle to buy the materials and make it for anywhere near that cost.

A screened off and dedicated BBQ area with slabs used for paving does seem the way to go.
