So, is your wife not the ' right one ' G??

I would change everything too as there is nothing much of me that's worth keeping, except my love of animals ( not the human kind ).

Learned to touch type as a teenager if I'd realised how important key boards would be.

@NigelJ I went to evening classes to learn to touch type but gave up after two lessons. I asked the teacher what speed I should expect to be at by the end of the course and was told 29 wpm (what a peculiar number! :rolleyespink: ). I was already typing at 35 wpm with one finger on each hand (and a thumb for the space bar) :noidea:.

I now still only use one finger on each hand but average 45 wpm and 50 when I'm thinking fast. :heehee:

I think that youngster in the future will be born with an extra joint on their thumbs for manipulating the keyboard on their phones and an extra vertebrae or two in their necks.

I can't type quickly. It takes me an age just to write a paragraph. I was no good in chat rooms. A forum like this isn't so much of a problem.

I learned to touch type because I envied the girls at other schools who were taught it as a matter of course but my school didn't.
I have to say, I'm rather proud of the fact I can. For example, when speaking to clients and gathering details needed for inputting into the computer, I can look them in the eye and still type up their details ... freaks a few of them out though ;) and some even say, cheekily, "You're just showing off now!" :heehee:
The only drawback has been that I think faster than I can type which sometimes leads to typos

It's never too late Jack :nonofinger: Sometimes you just have to think sideways. I know you work weekends, but there are plenty of things going on during the week too. I'm thinking from a Volunteering angle first and foremost (who knows where that could lead?)
So, maybe donate some time volunteering e.g., English Heritage? Historic England also welcomes volunteers. Also found a list of links on the University of Kent careers page (initial listings relevant to Kent but scroll down, there are more!)
All that means is that your preferred learning style is auditory and there's nothing wrong with that at all.
So, with that in mind, I went on the Open University website and set the filter to audio + free and this is the link to the page I was directed to: OpenLearn History Some are free podcasts which you could download and listen to between pickups.

I haven't had the opportunity to do a thorough review of those links, but, they should kick-start your journey into your passion. It is never too late
