used to tune into a radio program in south africa a few years back .... the DJ was Chris Prior and was known as the 'rock professor' ... he played similar type music to your partner and had a huge following

if you scroll down a bit on this link, I think you can still listen to some of his shows (called Prority rock) .... your partner will enjoy this

I'll ask him about it. He's into all aspects of radio, not just playing a few tunes. He follows the history, a lot of the DJ's, different stations etc. If he hasn't heard of it no doubt he will check it out when he does!

I'm always out at that time on a Friday :( but only really like the early rock.

    dim,
Back in the early 60's I used to listen to Lorenco Marques Radio which played pop and rock as the SABC controlled all broadcasting and wouldn't play rock.

LM Radio gave a lot of South Africa youngsters a start in music.

LM radio was the best .... I was at boarding school in the 1970's in Pietersburg (Northern Transvaal) and we always tuned in to LM

went to LM many times (my dad owned a holiday home there) .... good weather, warm sea, and the best prawns in the world .... some of the best fishing spots on the east coast of africa

many of the dj's on LM radio went to the transkei in south africa when the problems started in mozambique, and set up capital radio 604 which was just as good as LM radio

pity that Mozambique took the same route as most african countries

I've got two very old albums of his (vinyl of course) when the group was Tyrannosaurus Rex - not T.Rex. Saw him at the Cliffs Pavillon Southend, Essex many moons ago. :)
