    I did two rooms a few years ago, using Celotex (rigid insulation board) cut to size to fit between joists. It involved taking up the floorboards. The floorboards were wrecked in the process so I fitted new.

    The remaining hallway and cloakroom has about 2 foot depth of space. I have managed to crawl under it in the past to reroute ch pipes and add new electric circuits. But it would be awful to fit insulation in such a confined space, so I plan to just rip the boards up again so I work from above. I'll fit celotex again.

      My bungalow is a fairly modern build at just over 20 years old. I have suspended wooden floors which has insulation attached underneath, similar to that used in a loft space. All the pipework (plumbing) underneath is fully insulated too.

        In the Deep South America (and possibly other States) most houses had suspended floors as they had crawl spaces for air circulation. Here we are on a concrete slab with concrete ceilings.
