I've bought one or two palms from Jan at Minor Garden Julia. Always healthy. And whilst not the cheapest you certainly get what you pay for.

Oh that's good, John. I'm still smarting from an unresolved eBay issue with another seller, so there was a little trepidation, but Jan really has a good business going, hasn't he?

Yes. His seeds are always fresh and get good germination rates too. I've bought 3 or 4 lots of cycad seeds and get 80-90%. There is one seller of palm seeds that I won't name but always describes everything as 'very rare' even T. fortunei and when I decided to grow exotics and knew little about them I bought loads off her. Don't think one germinated - ever. Still you learn with experience and not just about gardening.

Well that's made me feel a little better john, however I did spend Ã?£8000 on it last year! (okay not all on plants [IMG] ) This year I am supposed to be economising. ah well I have got lots of seeds on the go and some plug plants ordered so hopefully I'll save something on my baskets. Gardening really is an expensive hobby, it's a good job I don't care about nice clothes and going out anymore - At least I make some savings there [IMG] - I am happy in my clogs and fleece and sipping a glass of wine whilst enjoying my labours - got to be worth it [IMG]

I'm going to sue you lot. Whilst we were comparing notes I thought I'd check minor garden for some screening plants for my new bog (bath). I ended up buying some phyllostachys heteroclada seed for £7. Ah well there are 100 of them so I should be OK. :D

He's going to wonder where all these customers suddenly came from John! It's probably just as well we don't go to garden centres together - we'd bankrupt ourselves!

There's no hope. One of my workmates is finally having his garden done over the space of two weeks (decking, patio, the works) and is creating a culinary garden. So I sent him to http://www.jekkasherbfarm.com/. He's now cursing me because he spent three hours on there last night looking at all the different types of herb (and he wants all of them!).
