I am old enough Andy, that when I was a little lad growing up in Eccles, most Mancunians supported both teams. Ok, we all had our favourite team, but it didn't stop us from being proud of City and United.

There were never any problems between both sets of fans...indeed on Derby days, the proper supporters used to drink in the same pubs..alas those times have changed. But I am still proud of both our teams even though I don't live near enough to attend matches anymore.

I am still friends with a couple of ex city players..Frannie Leigh and Mike Summerbe so I can't be all bad can I.;):thumb:

I really hope City do well this season and will be closely following their results etc. Be interesting to see how Mark Hughes gets on...or if the fans will accept him. Results will be the deciding factor I feel. But I hope they give him a chance.

Well im just a wee 22 years of age so i've never witnessed those times! I've only recently witnessed the derby atmosphere, going to the derby the last 3 years and nothing beats it, its just awesome. Not sure about Mark Hughes yet, he's got to prove himself this year, would've prefered to stick with sven but hey ho. How do you know franny lee & sumerbee, LEGENDS?!!

Our season kicks off on Thursday against EB/Steymur of the Faroe Isles in a Uefa cup qualifier. I did my best to get there but it was going to cost in excess of £400 which ruled it out for me. Got some mates going who are going on a ferry to shetland and have hired a trawler & a skipper to get to the faroes... thats what I love about manchester city fans!

How do I know Frannie and Mike.

Well to keep it short. Mike had (and as far as I know still has) his own shirt making company. My Dad worked as a security guard at Macro and Mike was in there a lot. they got on like a house on fire and Dad was invited to tour the factory and go for drinky poo's afterwards. He didn't have a car, but I did...so I drove him there...that's when I met Mike. We two really hit it off and I have seen him off and on for years.

I met Frannie at his birthday party years and years ago. This is when I was still a pro musician but in a male female duo at the time. My agent got onto me asking if I would do the gig...Sunday Lunchtime thing. His wife was booking live entertainment as a birthday present.

Needless to say, the day went well and Mike was there as well, them two being best buddies. Quite a few footballers there, even Man U players...of which I had met...but that's another story.

We have been friends ever since....this was before he took over Swales Job. Also becoming a freelance photographer...I was invited to take team shots and do publicity shots for City and United. So I have met quite a few in the footballing fraternity....and contrary to what the papers say...they do like their beer.:D:thumb:

Prior to that, I had quite close contacts at old Trafford. My first wife was the chef there and also my son worked there and played football with all the players sons. So you can imagine I bumped into a lot of them. Alex Stepney, Rodney Marsh, Nobby Stiles, Me and Mike used to meet once a week at Sale Golf Club to play snooker. Dennis Law used to bob in as well.

Hows all this for name dropping, heh, heh.;)

I notice someone is quiet, is it because city lost 1 - 0 to Hamburg the other night...when Man U won their match 4 - 0.

Naw Slinky...any division as I also support Stoke ...oh yea they have just been promoted, but I did before and Hereford United.

    But Leeds fans aren't welcome.:D:D:D[IMG]

Inter, I only live in Wales (for the last 3 years)...was born in Eccles M/C only a few miles from Old Trafford yea:thumb:

KK has just made a joke of himself. The lad has been given chance after chance, he doesnt deserve to be paid by the fans at Newcastle. No doubt there will be another fracas in the next 6 months and he will be sacked, the lad is just pure scum.
