Is the rep & points thing fair?

And to answer the question asked at the beginning, no I don`t think it is fair. But that`s just me, because I don`t think it shows the abilities of the poster.

 

JWK,I know he did but on post 44 at the bottom Daisee has quoted me from what I said yesterday and said look here,which I have done and it is still not me saying about the noise,so perhaps someone can tell her.:thmb:

I don't have strong feelings about any of the new features. I use the parts that make the forum easier, and there are features that I haven't used of felt like trying yet. I wouldn't say that any of the additions have prevented me or made more difficult the ability to comment and contribute to gardening discussion.

In respect to whether rep points are fair ? we as moderators and administrators can see who has contributed to a persons rep tally, and therefore we can see if it is being abused by a particular group or individual. I would welcome PM's from anyone who has reason to highlight any blatant abuse of the rep system. It is meant to be fun but there still needs to be a sense of merit in proceedings.

When using the rep system, consider a persons post or contribution to a thread and add to their reputation if you so wish. Friends and buddies are easy to spot who continually add to eachothers reps without comment or good cause.:thumb:

My best advice having used this software across a number of forum subjects is to try it for a month. Make a note of the things that have become more difficult and a note of the things you have enjoyed or discovered so that this can be shared. We will all use the forum differently depending on whether we spend our whole day here or just 5 minutes and we will all develop our preferred method of navigating and contributing to Gardeners Corner

On the Christian Forums they call the forum 'currency' blessings and when you donate you "bless" someone with them! Cute!

 

I shall probably regret doing this but you can see it anyway ... and it does take off a point when used.





But it's going to disappear very soon ...

 

Now that is a difficult question. I don`t like the whole approval thing at all-whatever is done to try to prevent abuse of the features, but if we can approve of a post it is important to be able to disapprove also. It feels false otherwise. I do take on board some of the concerns when I say this.

Trouble with it is, it can be abused.
