Is there such a thing as a good sprinkler?

Once the hose is full and unless there are more tgan one sprinkler attached, the length shouldn't have any effect.

We are lucky to have really good pressure. I would blow out the low flow system if I turned the tap more than a 1/4 open.

I have a bar type sprinkler like Sheals . Works fine , you just need to spend time viewing the sprinkle pattern , and adjusting the stroke stops. As Sheal said its great fun dashing in and out to make adjustments and move the sprinkler before it soaks you . Only use them once or twice a year though.

I use a Gardena 350 oscillating sprinkler. It's the best I've ever had and was recommended to me, here on GC, by Kristen.

They do several versions of them but I have the biggest as I have a lot of ground to cover. Set on it's widest setting they say it can cover up to 350sq m. I've not checked but it certainly covers a bigger area than any of the other ones I've had and does a much better job of it. I can cover virtually all of my veg plot (about 80ft x 30ft) in one go.

I've had it working a lot during the last few weeks as the ground is now too hard to do any digging or weeding. We've had ten minutes of rain in the last six weeks :rolleyespink:. I started it up at 6 a.m. this morning and it will be working all day as the plants are showing signs of suffering from the drought and some have already died . It was going all day yesterday as well.

        Gardena Sprinklers Comfort Aquazoom 350/3

There are other versions of it that are smaller - and cheaper. :dbgrtmb: My version costs £50+ but was only £30 when I bought it.

....And when you pick it up remember to tilt it away from you or it'll score a hit on it's return! :snorky:

That's not so far off Armandii. I've been known to water pots and troughs in the rain.

I posted this yesterday and it packed up later!!! :hate-shocked:  I've written to Gardena to give them the details of what's wrong and asked if there's anything I can do. Although it has done an enormous amount of work for us. :noidea:

The above is attached to a metal rod with a spike which you stick in the ground. Absolutely brilliant. It's so simple the is b all to go wrong with it! Used it for 20 years without any bothers whatsoever and it reached a great area. I would still be using it today but our private water supply pressure is not enough for it to work here sadly. Like most things if you go for what the professionals use yes it costs a bit more but not in the long run it doesn't because the products last for years and years. My hosepipe which was professional grade is STILL going strong after 27 years, much of it lives out all year round/gets run over by cars and regularly freezes as is used to fill a water trough. Yes cost a bit more than what the likes of B and Q stuff costs but it is definitely worth the extra.
