Is this an ok time of year to buy & pot an acer?

Well today I went down to the closest nursery for Acers to me (that I know of), in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Bluebell Nursery.

They were really helpful and knew their stuff. After seeing the Garnet in person I decided against it. It was lower and wider than I had expected (since seeing the supposed Garnet at my local Garden Centre). I was after something the was a bit taller and less spread.

I came away happy with an Acer Japonicum Aconitifolium and an Acer Palmatum Bloodgood. Here they are.
