Island Flooding

Thank you Harry. I don't know whether it was reported on the news, I don't have a television. I believe it was mentioned on the BBC earlier today though.

My garden is already shut down for winter and I've only managed about three hours out there in the last month, an hour of that was in the greenhouse. You'll get your garden sorted soon Harry, the weather looks as if it will improve later next week.

 

Things still look decidedly grim for you Sheal, but glad you and your home aren't in peril. Completely blood some here. Winds probably the strongest we've experienced in the 13 years we've been here and torrential rain. Risked going out to check horse ok about 3 hours ago and not a bother on him thank goodness. Stuffing a huge hay net. Preying we don't loose any of our massive trees or damage to my greenhouse but in comparison to many on your island we're fairing not too badly...yet. Hope things begin to improve with you quite quickly.

 

Sorry Silu, I'd forgotten Scotland is copping this present storm too. In fact the island is only catching the edge of it but it's not helping our present situation. I hope it behaves and clears away from your area without any damage. Take care of yourselves up there, the next 24 hours are going to seem very long!

Yikes you guys got it bad. I think we will be next here in the Scottish borders later tonight and tomorrow.

I don't blame you for trying to avoid the flooded roads. You need that 4x4 !

So, so sad to read this thread. In the past, I've spent a lot of time on the Island, and know every place mentioned. Which in a way makes it worse...

 

Thank you all again for your concern, I appreciate it. The gale is about to peak here with gusts of up to 75mph expected.

The pilot of the plane has been named, he is 73 years of age and an island resident/businessman. There is no further update of the aircraft's whereabouts.

My main road home......again, this is part of the TT course between Glen Helen and Laurel Bank. The River Neb is to the right.

 

I heard about the storm hitting the island earlier today, and logged onto GC to see if there was news... Take care, my friend!!
