I am horribly ignorant, but is this a day lily? If so, this is my contribution - no idea of its name, but although I have been waiting impatiently for it to open for a while IMG_2033.JPG , it has been worth the wait!

Hello Irmemac, yours is a true Lily, ie a Lilium . Probably an Asiatic Hybrid. These grow from scaley bulbs and will multiply and form a good clump if they're happy where they're planted.

Thank you, that is good to know. I bought it as a young plant and didn't realise it might multiply. I will keep a close eye and hope it is happy where it is: large pot, but mostly shade (which might not be to its liking).

I don't know much about lillies but these are dotted around the garden and look like lilly thingies to me.

I've only had two varieties of Day Lilies in the garden, this one......

                  And this one.

But I remember dividing a clump of the first variety and planting a division in another border and this year it has flowered like this..........

it is a rarity I can upload any pic to this sight. I just happened to download it from something else to my download file, and then I can upload it here. I have lots of lillies etc. of which I cannot upload pics here due to restrictions. so it is what it is.

BTW, ever seen a Canada Lily, have them.
