Awww RMandi thats soooo special -we need a LOVE button:wub2: instead of a like button...i too have a special connection as it was like yourself a very special Rose of a friends Wife ...he was the most loveliest, loveliest elderly gentleman who lived in our village and i was privileged as a teenager to call him my friend - he actually introduced me to Dahlias, he grew the most incredible blooms ,his garden was a sight to behold.
I cherished my time with him and many years later when he passed I took a small posy of their Masquerade to his Funeral so he could greet his wife with them- he loved her so dearly and never a day went by that he didn't chat away about her to me... LOL i then went.... like a SAS mission over the garden gate and dug up Masqurade Rose, i can tell you it nearly done me :doh:in as it had been there for donkeys ,and then some time later after the house was sold gifted it to his Daughter and grandaughter they were so happy as they had no idea, and bless them had in their grief overlooked it. But as i told them i just couldn't bear the thought of anyone trashing it- do you know i even got cuttings off it -never got a cutting off a Rose since no matter how many times ive tried :th scifD36: - so he was helping me all the way bless him:)

At a Glance it could be "White Star" but this is only a hunch:smile:

Thanks for your reply @wiseowl - the rose was in a garden I visited recently so it's not possible to count the petals. It was certainly a star rose so the name would certainly fit.
I'm hoping to buy a white rose so I'll check out the local nurseries and see what they have on offer.

I wondered that, but then the leaves in the background made me think it could be a Rosa Rugosa "Alba" :dunno:
