Thanks very much - it's the one thing in the garden that people always comment on. In the Autumn it looks lovely ....

Unfortunately it wasn't my choice, it's our neighbour's fence.

What more can I say? Good (understatement) job done.

Talking of fence posts, funnily enough my son was helping a fencer put up some fencing and told me about concrete posts. I said I was suprised, I didn't think people had them anymore (?) but he said 'yeh' (picture Bart Simpson saying that :) ).

    cheers

Horrible things concrete posts, in time the rebar (metal reinforcment) corodes and they snap off like timber. Concrete posts are also damned expensive £12 ea plus the same for gravelboards and heavy to transport.

I use 4" 8' timber posts for my jobs, farr better and mutch nicer to use.

Yep me to i did a job a couple of months back where the customer sorted the materials i dropped one of the posts and it cracked all the way around i think people think they will last longer but if you ask me there ugly and as soon as the pannels get a little week the wind gets up and they buckle and blow straight out then youve got to lift a pannel 6 foot in thje air to replace it ....

That looks like an excellent job you have done there!

What sort of ground preparation did you do for the decking?

    We:

    1. Cleared the ground of all debris
    2. Added 3 ton of pea shingle
    3. Laid down heavy duty black mebrane
    4. Laid the frame ontop and then filled the gaps with in the frame with more shingle and cement
    5. Topped it up with some nice stones.

Plus - weedkiller is being put down every 2 weeks
