I had the same response a few years ago. Admittedly the pain on that occasion was only as bad as a broken leg so it was a little presumptuous of me to expect help on that occasion!

Believe me, I had tried it but it made the pain even worse. But as I had been assured by my dentist that it would bring relief in the end I went through with it then.

I imagine if you have a bad experience like that, specially when you're young @Jiffy, it must really stick with you and affect how you view dentists throughout your life.

I'm lucky to have had good experiences so I do get a check up, every 6 months previously but with my funky sonic toothbrush doing its thing during the past couple of years, I'm down to every 9 months with no need for them to do anything to me when I visit :blue thumb: so if anyone is ever thinking of buying that particular gadget, I can heartily recommend it :star:

Hate to disillusion you @SharonL but that is more likely due to funding than your funky sonic toothbrush ;)

:noidea: ha ha, you may well be right @"M" but at least they can never find an excuse to get their scraper out nowadays :dancy: and I get an extra 3 months free from check-up charges:yay::pathd:

Just applying ice as we speak as the pain is quite bad. It is just really bad rising to excruciating with this ice pack, but I can tolerate that sort of level. Especially when I know that it will drop away in about 15 minutes as the ice pack takes effect.
I'm rather concerned by the amount of infection though - it is still very, very swollen.

Hmm, still very, very swollen doesn't bode well for any extraction - hopefully, tomorrows dental visit will bring some relief

Before this episode I would have gone against advice and said just pull it. Now I will probably follow his advice.

And so you should! (Ice pack is working as per his advice?)
Personally, I just wish you relief from the pain and a good nights sleep!
:fingers crossed: for tomorrow for you and healing vibes still winging their way to you.

It does. Best applied before the pain is bad as initially the pain increases horribly!

I wonder if there's a chance the dentist may lance it to relieve the pressure,my dentist did that with me.Under normal circumstances I would have been terrified but I couldn't wait and got instant relief, plus more AB's for another week until the infection was gone and then had the tooth pulled.
You must be exhausted Longk the pain is so draining and the lack of sleep is torture...Really hope you get a good result tomorrow:thumbsup:

That is the least that I can hope for.

As a lifelong insomniac I hadn't noticed:heehee: Actually, I was feeling knackered after three sleepless nights!
