    I don't like mountain bikes. They are much heavier and harder work to cycle. They seem to be very popular these days, but people don't realise that the thicker tyres are far from ideal for normal roads.
    Plus many people wear rucksacks when cycling:nonofinger:, rather than have a carrier on the back with panniers, so you carry your load twice.
    Mind you I have panniers but they are always full of stuff I never use!

    Mountain bikes are the right choice if, like me, you prefer to do your cycling off-road. When I used to be fit, I used to take the stance that 'surfaced = boring'.

      So it is, of course, but then I suppose was never fit .... or maybe fit and lazy?
      Anyway, cycling in our little hamlet is never boring. We can tell when someone is drunk at the wheel when they are driving in a straight line. Anyone else remembers the potholes!
