    Thanks Moyra :).

It was a very interesting quiz today because I didn't know many of the answers but was able to work some of them out. I'm pleased that I took time to read the questions carefully because there were clues in the questions.

I was able to use comprehension and grammar (even though they were American) to get some of the answers. One of them asked a question that was in the singular whereas all but one of the answers were plural. Similarly there were questions that asked for an answer that were either nouns or verbs so I was able to deduce the answers. Elementary!!! :D :D :D :D

That type of thing covered 4 questions. 2 questions had stupid alternatives. I knew 2 and made total guesses on the other two. :thumb: :D

Shiney, it is true that sometimes logic can give you the answer when you haven't a clue and as you say some you can answer from deduction.........oh well, hopefully we shall have a thunderstorm soon to clear the air and then maybe I shall start to think more clearly again! That's my excuse..........yes Slinky more excuses!! Lol.;):D

This must be the best question ever today !!

    8. Why weren't there any illuminations between 1913-1925 and 1939-1949?

The correct answer was First and Second World Wars.

Because of restrictions on fuel and glass during the wars the illuminations didn't shine during war years.

Typical !! I actually get a british question for once and the flippin' yank question setters don't know the dates of the two World Wars.

P.S I still can't post any smilies, even when I go advanced I only get the smilies below the box and not on the right.

I can sympathise with you Dan as they don't know their own history either.

They still think that Columbus discovered America . Apart from the fact that the Mongols crossed over thousands of years ago and Leif Ericson and the Vikings got there more recently, Columbus never set foot on the mainland of America.

His first landfall was the Bahamas, then he went to a lot of the Caribbean islands and on further voyages reached Central America and Venezuela. You try telling the Americans that he never reached America :( :). I got one answer wrong the other day because of that . I suppose it was my fault because I know this is an American quiz and that the Americans beleive he discovered America. :D

I don't know why you don't get the smilies to the right of the screen
