:eek:Can I disagree with something said? I don't believe American children know less of their history. Ask any child here in Britain about our history. Don't want to start a debate just saying, the reason adults here don't know so much is because it's not pumped into them at an early age. Americans do, we don't. OK if you know so much you didn't go to an average comprehensive like I did. Not going into details but the education system has been lacking for many years. OK enough said from me, didn't mean to get 'ansty'. Anyway going to play the quiz now so I'll see you soon, with bowed head again:(:D:D

    cheers

Unfortunately Borrowers our History has to be diluted down to industrial revolution and such like anything more controversial like our Empire building or Colonial conquests are deemed to offend our new British subjects. Cannot do that now can we?

Regarding British history...I work with lads ranging from 16 up wards and I am amazed how little they know...It's just not possible to have a conversation either than'Page Three or the previous night's football'...Stray from those topics and that's it!..Full stop:rolleyes:

The secondary school I work in has a fantastic History department - three very good teachers - I've learned a thing or two! :) There are loads of kids taking history - though that may be connected to the fantastic trips the head of department organises! :D

That's interesting Jarbax. I thought the pc brigade and put the dampers on school visits........or is it that the teachers fancy the trips to visit Knossis for a day at the ruins to justify a week on Crete in the summer? I do hope not. Why am I such a cynic?

The first years go to St Andrews for a weekend, there's two yearly trips to Greece and four yearly trips to New York! I think they vary the itinery somewhat, as I remember hearing about the boy who had an anaphalactic shock on a train in Russia - non e of the guards spoke Englaish and dismissed the emergency - it was the batty 'old' languages teacher who managed to get them out of trouble with her spattering of Russian!

    Anyway - onto today's game...

    Pooh!

That was the second time I came 11th out of 18. The way they score it means that I got the same score as the 18th :(. The scoring goes down gradually until 10th place then everyone else gets very little.

    I must try harder! :D :D
