It's 5 cm between bulbs - and 8-10 cms deep - but I pack them closer together in a pot, about 3 cms or less in between.

I just plant them in a circle around the circumference of the pot and then fill in the middle with more circles of bulbs - if this makes sense?:blue thumb:

5cm is about correct for spacing or 2" in old money. The Iris Reticulata is quite early flowering - I think . So in a pot you can underplant them with some daffodil bulbs - just look for layer or lasagne planting on Google .

Is it possible to make them flower at early December?

Pic's of the plants in situ - some in my new raised beds - complete with plastic forks to stop Alfie helping out with the 'gardening' :snorky:

My Allium and Agapanthus collection arrived from J Parkers in October and November . The Allium bulbs are planted out , the Agapanthus dry rooted are planted up in the GH . Used J Parker a couple of times now , very pleased with the quality and delivery. Definately one for the short list :blue thumb:

I have read all your posts about J Parker's and it looks you are all happy with them.
Unfortunately my situation is quite different. I got tempted to buy a collection of 8 peonies and 6 roses on 19 October. J Parker's promised the plants would be delivered within 28 days. I haven't got them yet though 40 days have already passed. I sent them 3 emails and I got a respinse only on the first one promising that the plants would be dispatched shortly. Then after a month of waiting I phoned them and again I was assured that the plants would be delivered very soon.
Now I am worried that it would be too late and too cold to plant them when and if they arrive, especially as I intend to plant them in plastic pots.
Has anybody expirienced the same problems and knows what to do in such a situation?

I have ordered some seedlings from them. Some are very upset. I emailed them, they said they will replace it to me. Well, they never arrive.

I find J Parkers are good for bulbs, but I have found their plants to be quite poor.

With seedlings/plugs from Parkers - some will be expecting the same size plugs that can be purchased from B&Q - and are naturally disappointed :th scifD36: when they arrive. But with a little time they can be grown on to match the B&Q plugs and at a fraction of the price :dbgrtmb:.

The difference in price - apart from not paying for the B&Q stores - is the time to grow the plugs - the shorter the growing period - the more they can grow and then sell.

All the plants I have purchased from Parkers didn't look that good - but their roots were well developed - and all took off when planted :spinning:.

I bought a variety of Perennial Poppies from Parkers, along with the free Iris, and they arrived pretty quickly. They were good, strong, bare rooted plants enclosed in plastic bags filled with compost. I've potted them up and they're looking happy in the Green House.:coffee::snorky:

Well, a Courier delivered 50 Narcissus to me today but not the mixed variety of Lupins I had ordered, the Narcissus were the free offer included in the order.. It did say in the delivery notes that the Lupins were to follow and while I appreciate the service it doesn't seem to make commercial sense to have to send a second courier to deliver them to complete the not really expensive order.:coffee::snorky:

Mrs Shiney ordered some bulbs earlier on in the week and we were pleasantly surprised to receive a 'tracking' email from Hermes the couriers to say it was on the way. Unfortunately, it didn't turn 'due to address access'. It turned out that they were trying to deliver to a business address in London!

Parkers said that they will tell them the correct address, again, and it should arrive that day. We have now received three 'not delivered due to access' emails from Hermes - one each day. Parkers have now told us that Hermes are returning them to Parkers and that we should get the delivery after Christmas.

It appears to be Hermes fault and not Parkers - only if we believe what Parkers have told us, that they gave the correct address to Hermes. Take your pick! :th scifD36:
