Don't be put off by other peoples' photos. Winning neans nothing at all - taking part means everything. The imaginative range of interpretations of the themes is fascinating

If you take a photo and like it, put it in! Personally, I love seeing them all, so called 'good' photos or not, and get ideas for future pics too. The different ways in which people interpret the subject I find fascinating [IMG] So, STICK 'EM IN STINGO ;)

STINGO..You have done really well in past photo competitions pulling many votes ..Its just this time of the year when their isnt a lot to take photos of ..but when your roses and other flowers are back on display you will feel more inspired..dont give up as you have displayed photos worthy of framing in the past..

    Windy,

Darth Vader [IMG]

For those put off by the 'quality' of photos this month, just have a go. I never vote for the 'best quality' photo, just the one that speaks to me or tickles me the most.

I am pleased I had a go this month as I found a new feature on my camera, but there are far better 'quality' pictures posted up.

Last month I only got one point but its all good fun. :D

It's not the quality of other photos that's putting me off - it's total lack of inspiration on the subject, as people have already done the only things I have thought of, and the weather isn't exactly conducive to outdoor photography at night.......

I'm looking forward to spring! :D

Okay guys you are all right of course :D I've seen something this morning that I will get the camera out to...

Is there a special setting on some cameras to take night time photos?

Good for you, Stingo! Your camera may have a night time setting. If not, you may have to use flash. It does depend on what you want to take a picture of. If you don't want to use flash then you are going to need a tripod or find some way of keeping the camera steady. Using your camera's night time setting or not - it still means that the camera will have to open the shutter for a longer period than it will in daylight. And that means camera shake will blur your photo. Hope that helps [IMG]

Hi Stingo, I use a night setting with delayed shutter speed so that as much light as poss is sucked in. Just keep your hand steady as the delay amplifies any movement and subsequent blur in the shot.

Coincidence or synchronicity. What are the chances that two people would say the same thing on the same forum at EXACTLY the same time? Spooky.
