An inch or so of snow has pretty much closed the town down - its really quiet & distinctly spooky. Going to have to wander down the pub for a quick pint to make sure that there are other people out there.

Heres the road past my house @ lunchtime - its a bit deeper now.

Well, that was a bit of a let down to be honest - snow started at about half past eight, but was that dry powdery stuff, then about 11 things started to get a bit more interesting which eventually brought me the expected request from Little C's school to pick her up as they were closing (1.15pm), so I picked her up then Mrs C, popped them home (quickly snapped the pic below) and then headed off back to work; in the short time that it took for me to turn round and head back, the snowfall lessened and the roads cleared a bit.

It was all over bar the shouting by half three, and we ended up with a couple of inches at most.

We had our first snowfall on Monday, about an inch, soon after about half melted before dark. Over the following days we've had several hours of light 'dusty' snow every day (even on the days when it was supposed to be sunny  :snork: ), only slowly adding to what was left from Monday.

Then about 10am yesterday it started again, only light again until about 2pm and then it came down very heavily for 3-4 hours before stopping briefly, then between about 7pm and 11pm it came down steadily again. The result we now have about 4 inches lying on the ground :dancy:

                    Nice piccies, Bilbo :blue thumb:

Are those cultivated plants on the flat roof? Genuine enquiry and not sarcasm! :)

Hi Shiney, the plants on the roof are some form of "wild" sedum (I think), they got their selves there many years ago and have continued to thrived in about 2cm of gravel and sediment stuck between that. When they're in flower the roof is one big yellow glow, amazing sight. I did try scattering some wildflower seed on there too last year and although many germinated it coincided with the last few weeks of the drought period (remember that ;) - before the rains started) and they failed unfortunately. But the good old sedum continue to thrive year after year, "tough as old boots" :dbgrtmb:

I tried Rhymney bitter last year whilst visiting the Brecon Beacons in a lovely step back in time pub called the Goose And Cuckooo. Both the little pub and the beer were an instant hit with me, and along side Fullers, Rhymney is now my favourite beer. My sister came up from Wales last weekend, and treated me to the bottles of Rhymney. :)
