Japanese knotweed

    hi
    hope you don't mind me coming in on this thread.but we have got japanese knotweed which we only realised what it was this week,we thought it was roots from a tree and my partner as been pulling and chopping all summer it is all over our garden under lawn in borders everywhere.we don't know how we got it but the land behind us used to be like a nature reserve then was sold and houses built on it.our problem is now it as spread like this how do we get rid of it.please help

    By all means feel free to post, makes more sense than adding to the exisitng count of knotweed threads.

    The general consensus seems to be long term persistant spraying with glysophate

    My suspicious mind is at work again.

    Q. How do you get land at a fraction of its value, and then having got it, how do you get planning permission for change of use?

    A. Make it worthless by infecting it with a non-native invasive species so rampant that it gets its own legislation, then bring in the bulldozers to remove it, taking all the native plants with it, leaving brown-belt land that is much easier to get change of use on.

    Good evening Joan and welcome to the site.:dbgrtmb:. If the houses are less than ten years old, and the knotweed was a problem before they were built, then I would take legal advice about suing the builder to sort the problem. Even better if you can get the support of your neighbours.:thumbsup:
