They arrived today not bad I only ordered them on the 5th.
Just so you know they are very very small plants but all ready to get growing I will keep in the greenhouse until very late spring.

I will take some photos soon

    :cool:Hi Julie

Now thats all new to me , thanks for the link I will deffo have a look in to this , I knew they used to scrape near the top and it would bud faster (just below the soil)
I will try out on my already established Francis williams and Sum and Substance and see what happens (once spring summer is here:sunny:

I have done this with snowdrops to bulk up , then put in a bag with perlite and in to the airing cuboard so I have a good idea what to do .

I thought I would give you all a up-date as I thought as the year went on and they have just come back into growth , they are NOT Jurasic Park , they look more like "Mouse Ears " talk about tiny and I wanted huge , so a email will be going to the supplier as they are a very popular Hosta Nursery in Ireland and I expected what i PAID FOR THEM !!!!

I've managed from this thread find a Hosta that I bought in the 90's and still have.......Blue Angel. It's planted in a shady damp corner by the pond and has never been bothered by Slugs and Snails and has been very reliable despite the harsh and hard Winters we have had. If I remember correctly I bought it back then for a fiver, and it's listed on one of the links as costing £8 now which is not a bad increase. :snork:

mmm I used a different word :lunapic 130165696578242 5: it was good looking back through the post , just as well I kept in pots in the greenhouse over the winter , I like them but ... I wanted a whopper the leaves are just smaller than a dessert spoon.

          That's a shame.
I recently used said nursery for a Tricyrtis that I was after - got what I ordered (I hope, find out in the autumn), in good condition (bigger than I expected from the description given) and very quickly. Sensibly priced too for this particular one.

            Hi All

I sent a email to the nursery, they have informed me because they have been grown from tissue culture it will take up to 6 years for them to become there true size !!
And they are Jurasic Park and the spoon size leaves are also correct and that at this point in time that is the only size you can get hold off.

I will re-pot into bigger pots and play the waiting game .....

That's naughty, Spruce, as they should include that information in the advertising blurb, but then you can see why they didn't:dunno::snork:

Well I wont be buying any from them again, Armandii the leaves are so small I could use them in a bonsai pot !!!

He also said "thats why I got them for such a low price 3 for £18.00" !!!! :paladin:

And again they only tell you that after you've bought them!!! I do buy plants on line but usually just Roses or Cannas and from reliable recommended sources. That's not to say that I haven't been tempted by on line "bargains" but so far I've resisted clicking on "BUY". It's so easy to buy stuff on the net and you have to trust in the Gods that what you get is what you thought you'd get!! Unless it's something I can't find in the Nurseries, especially my favourite one at Arley Hall, then I prefer and enjoy ambling along the rows of plants of a Nursery and seeing the plant I want to buy.:hapfeet:

Blimey I'm really glad I read your info re Jurassic Park as had intended to maybe add to my collection of Hostas. I'm getting far too old to wait for years and years before things get to a reasonable size. Mind you I did buy some Tree Peonies a couple of years ago and will have a long wai before they flower reliably!
This is my Sun and Substance which I bought about 4 years ago (a 3ltr pot from memory and about £5) photo last year over 9 ft from tip of leaf to tip of leaf so that will do me nicely. Does yellow up better than in the photo but didn't have much sun last year...sure WE all remember that! Have Siboldiana Elegans and while not a rampant grower it's a great deal faster than Jurassic Park.
