The programme that I store my photos in (software came with the camera but there are loads out there) shows it to me if I click on the tab 'Properties'. I get the same info if I right click on the photo and the drop down has 'Properties' as one of the options. :blue thumb:

Perhaps the instruction that pictures must be taken in the current month should be written in red to highlight it and make it more visible to those that enter.

With respect Simon, I had been wondering about one of your pics and wasn't sure how to approach you about it without upsetting you if I was wrong. :doh:I think perhaps if we feel there is a 'suspect' photo then perhaps we should report it via 'pm' to Woo for him to deal with. How does everyone feel about this?

Should have been 2 pics... The sun was shining on both, there's no way it could have been in July in the UK! ...

Yup, didn't see that the images where to be taken in the same month that the competition was announced.... I never read instructions.....

No problems letting me know at all... Anything you're not happy with, just let me know....I'll never take offence.

          Thank you Woo. :dbgrtmb:

Sometimes it can make it more challenging, there have been a few difficult subjects because of the month chosen for them. :)

That's good to know but not everyone's the same. I thought I might get a tongue lashing. :heehee:

              My take on it

Please have your date & time set correctly as EXIF data is visible to all

Is there primarily (I would think) because of the end of the sentence, all can view the Exif. If the date is incorrect, someone may see, may complain to staff here and an investigation start involving the complainant, staff member and photo owner. Setting date and time avoids that, and avoids the work involved for someone asking and/or answering questions.

I do not think it contradicts the following rule.

The competition is of course based on the Integrity & Honesty of the entrants first & foremost...!!

Its not my photo comp but I think they are both valid and should be there, maybe with these extra words.

Please have your date & time set correctly as EXIF data is visible to all and it stops confusion.

              Steve...:)

PS. Please consider adding another rule.

If your going to cheat, please cheat fairly.

Hi @Hurfs and thank you for your most informative and friendly post :blue thumb:I had no intention of including the rule in the Photo Comp,as I don't feel that our friends and members need reminding,I trust everyone implicitly 100% :old:

I was requested by @Steve R that the rule be added,so after due consideration it was added;)

                    Hi Hurfs,

Yes faking exif info is easy so is just about every part of the photographic and/or editing system itself.

But who would bother to be declared XXXX (months) winner and choose the next subject? This is a friendly gardening forum and whilst there are many good photographers here, I doubt any would even think of bending the rules let alone know how to do it.

No, those sorts of people generally go after prizes, prize money or much higher level recognition or if you like, kudos.

But there needs to be some bounds and guidelines for the entrants to work to, to keep the playing field level and with that in mind I think GC has the balance just right.

The photo comp is enjoyed by many here, long may that continue.

                    Steve...:)

To be honest, I don't see that restricting images that are only taken in the month of the competition is a good idea. What happens if, since it is a free choice, a winner of the competition chooses a subject that could only be taken in Spring or Summer when it is in fact Autumn or Winter?:doh: There a huge amount of subjects that might be chosen but can't be as the opportunity for the pic, and was taken, was earlier in the year. So long as an image hasn't been used before on GC in any competition, hasn't been heavily processed, and is suitable what's the problem with using it. It also broadens the scope of the competition and gives the winner more of a choice of subjects.:coffee::snork:
