    Looks like the Michelia I want, called the port wine michelia? Someone on GC has the one with banana scented flowers in creamy / white, but I like this one. To me the flowers smell like mulled wine.

    It's sorta opening up like a water lily! So how about a bush lily???

    Isn't it lovely- RHS encyclopaedia says it is hardy. Have you got one, pete?

    Liz, if pete has got one, maybe if we tell him how wonderful / generous / georgeous he is he might let us have some seed :D

    You got that one easy.
    If anyone would like seed I'm sure I can find some in the autumn, it does take a few years to flower from seed.
    If anyone is REALLY interested, I could try some half ripe cuttings, no gaurantees though.
    Its been hardy with me for more than twenty years now.

    It looks like the leaves of a small tree I saw growing on the beach in Florida and Venuzuela. I don't know the name though.
