Might be Redbor or Red Russian, according to my research.

Thanks for that JWK. From what I've read I was expecting them to be more kaley than brusselly rather than the reserve, if you see what I mean. I'll keep you posted as to how I get on.
Nice pic btw very Jack and the Beanstalk.

@Madahhlia and @Lolimac - I think that might be Redbor as I've seen it in a mates garden grown for eating and not as tall as in the photo, but then I suppose it has been left to its own devices. I've also thought it was be grand in a wildy border I have ...

Hi GG, you might be able to buy it fresh in M&S if you want to taste them.

Googling Redbor, it looks similar to the picture that Loli showed. No Redbor seeds on Ebay, however, but something called borecole scarlet which looks identical. I suspect they just use the same picture for anything remotely purple and cabbage.

I wonder if I'd end up with something as incredible as this lovely snap of Monty on his wedding day?

Further cruciferous questions are being thrown up, such as is Cima di rapa the same as Chines kailaan? Has anyone grown them? I've grown kailaan but it was a bit weedy.
