Chumleigh? Was not familiar with this village so I looked it up and it sounds beautiful.

    Mmmm.... Tarka country.

If your sister was to set her compass and travel due south she would probably pass right through Ivybridge where I live, before hitting the sea!

I hope you get to visit her lots and spend some lovely spring and summer days in Devon. I love the place!

Hi CM,my sister actually lives in a village called Riddlecombe but the postal area is classed as Chumleigh.

When they stand at their bedroom window and look to the left they can see the Dartmoor hills, but cannot remember how far it is away from them.We stayed with them last Easter when Easter was in April and had a fanatstic time with soem beautiful weather. Her two children came down but the daughter got a strop on because she couldn't get a signal for her mobile and my sister hadn't got all the sky programm3es she wanted to watch and was disgusted that my sister and her hubby and moved to the wilds of the country side instaed of staying in the noisy town where they used to live. After having a paddy my niece and her quiet brother went back home leaving everyone upset. :(

I will ask her if they have been through Ivybridge as they go somewhere different each weekend so may have gone through it.They went to Lyme Regis for the day last Saturday.

I will check out your link later,Thankyou [IMG]

Just up the road from Chulmleigh, going towards Barnstable, is Umberleigh, where Carol Klein has her Garden/Nursery. It is definitely on my 'to visit' list.

Sorry to hear of your family trip disaster! I guess some people are just townies through and through! I actually relish being out of a mobile signal and sky just shows repeats all the time! Some people find the country restricting, but for me it is an unsurpassed feeling of freedom. Good on your folks for moving to find happiness.
