Thank you roders and rosa. If you didn't live so far away roders then I would say come and get half of the water lillies as we have far too many. Hubby is going to thin out and throw no end of them away in the autumn. Or perhaps we could quietly put them into some of the nearby ponds and lakes.

Kandyfloss, I may be wrong but I thing that those leaves are foxgloves. They are biannuals and I think that they usually flower in their second year.

I think mims is right Kandy, I immediately thought "foxgloves" as soon as I saw the picture and before I read mims' text.

Thanks Kandy, and I'll be posting some more pictures of the garden later on today. I think I will do a new topic in Watergardening for the pond as I have some good photos now. But how do I transfer them from this thread without breaking a link? Or is it better just to repost them?

KG I will go down the garden now and take a photo of the correct plant as I know it has yellow spidery flowers similar to an Inula...watch this space or the one above :D

I finally managed to snap a few insects, not good enough for in the proper thread but I was pleased that for once I was able to do so.

A very important feature in our garden - the water butt. Hubby pumps the water up out of the cistern into this butt (actually a builders barrel) and we fill the watering cans from it. If there is a lot of watering to do, then Hubby just uses the hose, it is long enough to almost get to the other side of the garden.

And now a few flowers that looked nice today, a small pink rose and then a large one -

My Calamondin both flowering and setting new fruits. Don't know why it is all at the bottom of the trunk and not up on the branches this time!
