Found this little fat fellow in a crack on the bottom patio. Never seen one this colour before, must be a new sort moved in.

I found this frog on a flea-market in Bradenton, Florida recently. It only cost $1, including lily-pad and batteries. It croaks three times when you walk by in front of it.

Hubby had a fit when we got home and he discovered what he had carried all the way in his hand-luggage!

Our next-door neighbour tells it to shut up.

Kedi - just discovered your marvellous thread.

Your pond is like a wondrous work of natural art, celebrated by all your plants and wildlife. I really envy you this lovely patch of watery tranquillity.

Brilliant photography too. A pond in a million. x

Thanks Cookie Monster. Here are a few more pics -

This one is still solo -

This pic is unclear because the water is murky at the moment. But if you look closely, you can see a dragonfly larve that has caught a pond insect for his supper -

An island in our pond! This started to appear a couple of years ago, Hubby was going to remove it but then discovered that the newts like to go on it.

    Thanks Woo and Kandy.

The two youngest grandsons were over yesterday, helping to make the path in the veggie patch (to be seen in my garden thread) and they kept going to the frog and jumping over in front of it, to see if it caught their movements and croaked. Must say, after a while the croaking started to get on my nerves.

The water lilies started blooming several days ago. This is the smaller red one, looking rather mottled pink this year for some odd reason -

This is the larger pale pink one, and getting more out of hand than ever -

The lovely cotton grass, iris leaves, Juncus, etc. -

    Sparganium -

A fat newt laying on the bottom of the pond in the muck. At least, the murkiness is clearing up now -
