My OH breeds and shows a particular breed of chicken and it has taken me years (decades ) to persuade him to get some 'useful' chickens so this year he hatched out some light sussex and marans under broodies and we will soon have eggs and meat :thumb:

I don't have chickens but this thread was so interesting and gave me some laughs picturing them breaking out and giving everyone a run for their money.

As Polytunnel said, the film CHICKEN RUN is hilarious, I'd love to see it again.

We could never have chickens where we live.
    To many cheeky urban foxes.
You could never let them out.
Unless you sat shotgun over them all day. :D
    I do love them .
I had one as a child.
It was bought for me as a present at easter as a baby fluffy chick.
You could do that way back.
It grew and grew but in the end we had to give it the local city farm to look after it.
I was about 8 and it used to follow me everywhere.
It was a real handful. :D
I have a photo of it somewhere.
I would love to keep chicken but my husband hates them and with the fox situation it wouldn't be fair on them.

    Happy memories. :)
