i think what has been said before about involving little ones is spot on. our 2 1/2 year old loves to help, not only in the garden, but around the house. Imo, when you have children, it's absolutely pointless having a garden with a no touch rule (unless the plants are dangerous), kids love learning new things.

a garden should be a room outside for all the family to enjoy. a kiddie area just for them makes it enjoyable for them to be in the garden.

Love Al n response. And if you involve them in the garden, and "show them to walk on a path" and to touch gentle" is this not "training".
I guess we ran off with the word "Training" it is positive redirecting, to learn the word "NO" also. Children need to learn the word "NO" in general. If the the simple things such as boundries of a garden is an issue I fear the other far more important issues that will cross their paths. And this is not for the person who started this thread to take it personally. Guess I just find this interesting that this is the choice for this issue than teaching.

        Thanks Redstar for that
Seems we could not see the wood for the trees
Instead of what we appear to be doing as in, bowing down and giving in to little kids, Which is exactly what we are doing
We SHOULD be teaching them the word NO, and mean NO

We (I) got side tracked by gardens and kids, and getting them involved, Instead of what is really needed, that of "you do not do that" otherwise what hope will they have when they grow up, and do not know the meaning, that there are many things in life you can not have

        Regards Jack McH

Thank you Jack McH. Also want to reconize that the role of a parent is the toughest job in the world.
