Well I have now bought some lawn sand. All I need now is 2 days when its not going to rain!!! that's about the second week in August then I think

Sorry Lady Gardener, maybe I should explain. I have a scarifiying machine which I normally use after feeding and weeding. Once the machine has finished its job and removed moss and dead grass there is not much left but soil. I uaually put a top dressing of compost and grass seed on top but as I say it is well into the summer before my lawn looks anything like my second picture. The moss is mostly round the edges but not noticeable in the picture.

After reading the instructions on the lawn sand it says it should be applied when rain is NOT imminant and if no rain falls within 2 days it should be watered in? does anyone know why there should be 2 days before it rains? what happens if it rains within 2 days? thanks

Maybe the rain will wash away the active ingredient in lawn sand if it falls within two days after applying. If it is left without water after two days it may burn the lawn.

I will have to put my lawn on hold meantime as I ended up in casualty yesterday with broken arm and now have plater on for three weeks.

Not the best time to break your arm Laburnum - sides being painful. Hope it heals soon and that it was the lower arm rather than upper - and normal life can resume soon. Really frustrating that the simplest things become a problem with an arm in plaster.

    Get well soon [IMG]
