It takes time to heal properly damaged nerves can take 2 years to heal sometimes longer..at least you are trying chemical free products so you are not inflicting yourself with any more damage..hope you get better soon.. [IMG]

JJordie ..no of course not i only copyied the ingredients off the back of the original pot of ointment..its a free recipe for anyone all the herb books have sections on how to make herbal ointments,. I think people are scared to try to do it when in fact its really easy..tell them their is nothing finer than nettle tea when you are in that arthritis forum :D I make ointment for an elderly lady near me and her legs and feet are much improved..I made her some nettle and cinnamon mixed ointment..
All people have to do is decide what herbs they want to put in their ointment and just do whatever... experiment..

A little more encouraging news about the ointment from Wildflower's recipe. I actually awoke this morning wondering whatever the difference was and realised that I had peaceful legs!!!! It didn't last, unfortunately, after I started to move the pain returned. However I have great hopes for the future,This is THE FIRST TIME for yearsI have had such a truly pain free few minutes! Try it everyone with any pain. I wouldn't have believed it. After all those expensive off-prescription things I've bought and the steroid type prescriptions I wouldn't use! Mother Nature and Wildflower have triumphed ( and of course my friend who prepared the ointment for me)

If i was making ointment for your aches and pains i would first make some st johns wort oil up and use that as a base..as st johns wort is excellent on the skin for pains. and nerves .then i would add the rosemary or nettles to the st john wort oil and probably rosemary for fragrance..i sometimes throw comfrey in with ointment i make ..as thats another excellent herb ..next summer about late june it may be an idea for you all to make some st johns wort oil up for the base for your ointments..i will try to remember to remind you..at the moment you will only be able to obtain dried st john wort..but saying that even that is better than nothing..

Hate to dampen your enthusiasm, jjordie, but my stepmom had gold injections for years and it never did her one iota of good.

(Made the osteopath rich tho but... !!)

jjordie..If you see this you can get the homeopathic tissue salts which will be the same as the injections..

Aurum metallicum (metallic gold). Similar to the gold compounds used to treat arthritis in mainstream medicine, aurum metallicum is a remedy for a variety of disturbances. Homeopathic gold comes in a fine brown powder which is prepared by a process called trituration. Trituration, which involves grinding down the powder and diluting it with milk sugars, is necessary because gold is not soluble in water or alcohol.

Typically, homeopaths prescribe aurum metallicum to arthritis patients who complain that the pain in their fingers or limbs feels worse from sunset to sunrise, is least problematic in the morning, and gets better during the day.

The measurements were in making herbal remedies in the herb section...

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ingredients: extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, wheatgerm oil, rosemary, marigold, lavender, camomile, grapefruit seed extract.

Well according to the recipe for organic rosemary ointment you are using 4 herbs so it will be a quarter of an ounce each ..i would put extra rosemary in if i was making this recipe..then you need an ounce of beeswax..i think you will find they sell it in 25g size..if you have any of these herbs in your garden use a combination of fresh and dried..you can use benzoin instead of the grapefruit seed extract as a preservative..if you do have any fresh rosemary available i would fetch some in chop it and leave it overninght in oil which will be extra beneficial..
you can use almond oil instead of olive if you wish..they used to use lard in days gone by but that sounds yuk..

dear Wildflower if lard was used the lovely soothing smell would be somewhat spoiled I think. Here we are 2 or 3 weeks late and still quite soothing effects being experienced and any reduction on the overall pain is a great boon? Thank you so much!

I am so glad you feel better ..perhaps you could plan a small herb garden for next year so you can grow and harvest your own herbs..
I suppose in days gone by they had no choice but to use lard ..sounds revolting.. :D How many pots of ointment did you get out of the recipe ??

I have just made my first visit to this garden for a long time. Thanks for your kind thoughts Wildflower. I have found so many friends here although you may all think I don't bother because I don't enter into the spirit of thngs at the moment, but it seems that life is determined to be brutal at the moment. My dear sisters have given me much to be grateful for and one day soon I may feel I can again take part.

p.s. one of my Sisters made up the huge batch of the rosemary ointment which has taken me through the past three months and which she says she will replace for me!

I hope that there will come a time when I am more mobile and then I will make my own and also some for her.
